Our community is a vital and integral part of each one of us. I have learned this from growing up in rural south-western Virginia in a community such as Kaysville, where children are important, one's community is home and helping each other is paramount. This is one reason why I chose Kaysville to live and raise my family.
Our community has many important issues that will face us as we continue to grow. We need to ensure we are meeting the needs of all our citizens now, as well as those who hope to live here in the future. These issues should be led in part by the mayor, as our mayor serves as a voice for citizens within city government. As mayor, I will look at the big picture and reason out decisions with citizen input and make reccomendations that will most adequately reflect the needs of citizens within the constraints of govenment.

Action Items

Citizen concerns will be a priority…
As mayor, I will make citizens' concerns my priority, making sure I personally take the time and effort to address each concern, thus ensuring every voice counts. It is the citizens of Kaysville that make this community great.

Increased accessibility to recycling …
It is important that there be appropriate access to recycling facilities and programs. Many households in our community have already made a commitment to recycle and should be commended. Many others desire to recycle but are hindered by lack of accessibility. As mayor, I will begin by creating access to recycling receptacles placed locally, and I will assess the feasibility of recycling pickup at our homes.

Appropriate funding for police, fire and snow removal services …
Even in these times of economic uncertainty city services are a vital part of our community. We need to ensure that we don’t endanger public safety by cutting funding. Increased accidents will ultimately mean increased insurance rates, as well as increased demand on our police and rescue services.

Maintaining city values with compatible business growth …
The small town feel of Kaysville is what many people love about our community. We need to continue to revitalize our downtown area. We are adding new businesses while neglecting our downtown. As we add new business growth, we can continue to improve our downtown area, and find creative ways to increase the parking. Small business’s give us local choice as well as areas for our children to work.

Growth Management with long-term vision …
Kaysville continues to grow and expand as seen throughout our neighborhoods. There are also some unfortunate homes that continue to remain vacant, or partially completed, due to the current economic situation. The long term vision of our growth needs to be done in a responsible manner so we can allow homes to be built while maintaining current home values.
